Thomas A. McMillen

President, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, General Motors Europe

Thomas (Tom) A. McMillen has been General Motors Europe Vice Pesident, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, since June 2008. In this capacity, he is responsible for overseeing GM's purchasing and supply chain activities in Europe and serves as a member of the Opel/Vauxhall Leadership Board. Prior to that, he was executive director of General Motors Global Logistics.

Tom McMillen was born on August 29, 1964 in Hasting, Michigan and holds a bachelor's degree in business management from Northwood Institute and a master's degree in business administration from Central Michigan University.

Tom began his career with GM in 1989 as a material coordinator in Lansing, Michigan. Subsequently he held various positions in production control and logistics, before moving into purchasing in 1991 as a Buyer.

In 1995, Tom was promoted to an international assignment, joining GM Europe as a senior buyer, advance purchasing. Until his repatriation to the USA, he completed programme coordination assignments with Saturn Corporation. In 1998, McMillen became Program Purchasing Manager within GM's small car group until 2000, when he joined North American Vehicle Operations, as Commodity Manager. After joining the Global Purchasing and Supply Chain organisation in 2003 as Purchasing Director, he was promoted to Executive Director of General Motors Global Logistics in August 2007.
