The global automotive logistics conference.

The automotive world continues to expand. In spite of adverse economic conditions, more vehicles are being produced in more countries than ever before. The three traditional, powerhouse manufacturing regions – North America, Western Europe and Japan – whilst still paramount, have been joined by South Korea and by a plethora of hitherto unheralded automotive manufacturing nations, many of them in Eastern Europe. Russia is forecast to become the largest automotive market in Europe by 2010 as its astonishing growth continues unabated. China has become a major player, both in terms of vehicle manufacture and the production of components. The vast sub-continent of India is joining the race for global eminence, its intentions made clear by Tata Motors’ recent purchase of the iconic Jaguar and Land Rover brands.

As the vehicle manufacturing base proliferates, the production of component parts must inevitably follow. Components are now increasingly being produced in what have become termed as low-cost countries. Both local companies and branches of internationally-known traditional suppliers are springing up in nations previously un-associated with the automotive industry.

The conference brought together senior figures from across the automotive industry. Vehicle manufacturers and logistics service providers joined together to identify issues and discuss potential solutions.
